In Memory of Vernon Delano Lindberg
Vernon Delano Lindberg age 80 of New Brighton MN, died August 19, 2014 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Vern was born on October 6, 1933 in Blomford, MN; the son of Clarence and Agnes (Norberg) Lindberg. He was raised in Isanti, MN and graduated from Cambridge High School. As a young man, he enlisted in the armed forces where he proudly served in the United States Navy as a medical corpsman on Guam. On September 6, 1958, he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Shirley Johnson at Elim Baptist Church in Isanti. This union was blessed with two children, Gregory Scott and Cheryl Ann Lindberg Paulson. Vern graduated from the University of Minnesota with a History degree but instead of teaching, he became a business man and had a very successful career as a Realtor. Vern loved the Lord and was active in his church Elim Baptist Church of Minneapolis.
Vern loved the outdoors, whenever he had the opportunity; he pulled his boat to a lake for a nice day of fishing or went out to the woods to hunt. Nothing gave him more pleasure than being a grandpa to Erik and Annika Paulson. Vern was a generous and kind man and he had a big and hearty laugh.
Vern is survived by his beloved wife Shirley, son Greg, daughter Cheryl Paulson and husband Jim, and grandchildren Erik and Annika. Siblings: Warren Lindberg, Doris Larson, Gloria Sundstrom and Grace Hammer. He is preceded in death by his brother Raymond, sisters-in-law Kathy and Lu and Dorothy Danca, brothers–in-law Cliff Larson, Walt Sundstrom, Wendell Hammar and Gordy Wyatt. He is also survived by a great many much loved family members and friends.
