Sandra Otterness, age 75, of Cedar, died September 14, 2015 at Mercy Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 A.M. Friday, September 18th at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 19921 Nightingale St NW, Oak Grove. Visitation 5-8 P.M. Thursday, September 17th at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel and 1/2 hour prior to the Mass Friday at church. Interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Sandra Rachel Otterness was born September 28, 1939 in Minneapolis to Kenneth Walter and Kathryn (Santwire) Williams. When she was 2 years old her father was killed in an automobile accident. She was raised in Minneapolis by her mother and Lawrence Tilbury who she considered her dad. Sandra married Ronald Otterness on November 17, 1956. After Ronald’s military service they moved to Cedar where she has since made her home. She worked as a nurse’s aide at the Good Samaritan Home in Anoka. Sandra was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Oak Grove. She was an avid reader, she loved animals and her pets and was a real caregiver to many.
Sandra passed away on September 14, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald and by 2 sisters. She is survived by her 7 children, Ronald Otterness, Gregory Otterness, Deborah (Ernest) Mortensen, Laurie (Edward) Yanta, Robert (Cheryl) Otterness, Michael (Tammy) Otterness, Susan (Delroy) Gehrke; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Gail (Robert) Gorrell; and many other relatives and friends.
