Ruth Kastelyns obit photoRuth Ellen Kastelyns, age 86, of Cambridge died December 27, 2009 at GracePointe Crossing Gables West. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, December 30th at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel with Father James David Hahn officiating. A time for visiting will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Ruth Ellen Kastelyns was born September 3, 1923 in Hinckley to Robert Edward and Eva Esther (House) White. She was raised and lived her early years in Hinckley. Ruthie worked babysitting, at a nursing home and then at a restaurant in Pine City. She then went to work at Tobie’s bus depot in Hinckley as a waitress for over 20 years. In October of 1965 she married George Kastelyns at the Catholic Church in Hinckley. They made their home in St. Paul and later moved to Mora. Ruth and George took several trips around the United States. Her favorite pastime was embroidering. Anyone who got married could count on getting a tablecloth embroidered by her. After her husband’s death she moved to Cambridge in 1996 and then in 2003 she became a resident of Grandview Christian Home.

Ruth Kastelyns died December 27, 2009 at Grace Pointe Crossing West Gables at the age of 86 years, 3 months and 24 days.  Ruth was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joshua and Alcina House; her parents; brother, Albert Edward White; and aunts and uncles.

She is survived by one brother, Edward Robert (Alice) White of Cambridge; one sister, Mary Mae Fritsche in the Sandstone Nursing Home; and by many nieces and nephews.
