mabern-lister-obituary-photo.jpgMabern Caswell Lister, age 69, of Mora passed away August 7, 2009 at Kanabec Hospital in Mora after a courageous battle with cancer.  A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, August 11th at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel with Pastor Dave Dwyer of Henriette Community Church officiating.  A time for visiting will be held one hour prior to the service. 

Mabern was born March 23, 1940 in Gonzalez, Florida to Jack and Jeanette (Jennings) Lister.  At age 25 Mabern moved to Minnesota and on January 30, 1970 married Barb Kitzman at Grace Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis.  They made their home in Cambridge where they lived for 24 years.  Mabern worked as a mailer in the mailroom at the Star-Tribune for 31 years, retiring in October of 1996.  After retiring they moved to Florida where they lived for 12 years.  In April 2008 they moved to Mora to be closer to their grandchildren.  Mabern loved deer hunting, coon hunting, fishing, and enjoying wildlife and the outdoors.  He also enjoyed playing softball and bowling. 

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Barb; three children, Joan (Michael) Lenzmeier of North Branch, Annette (Heath) Blatz of Henriette; and Scott Lister of Cantonment, FL; six siblings, Jean Rogers of Pigeon Forge, TN, James (Jenny) Lister of Molino, FL, Faye (Albert) Blum, Lloyd (Linda) Lister, Roy (Rita) Lister, and Pat Sylakus all of Cantonment, FL; seven grandchildren, Tiana, Kayla and Ella Lenzmeier, and Ethan, Lydia, Elliot, and Eli Blatz; and by other relatives and friends.  Mabern was preceded in death by his parents.
