Joanne Mau, age 77, of Isanti died May 26, 2009 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 29th at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church with Fr. Jose Edayadiyil as celebrant.  A visitation will be held AT THE CHURCH on Thursday, May 28th from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. 

Alice Joanne Mau was born July 12, 1931 in McMinnville, Oregon.  On June 18, 1948 she married Joseph G. Mau.  They moved to Minneapolis in 1953 and stayed until 1973 when they moved to Isanti. 
 
Joanne was active at Ascension Church in Minneapolis and continued her church involvement at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Isanti.  She also enjoyed volunteering for many other organizations, including Home Delivered Meals, Isanti Middle School and the Isanti County Christmas Project.  Joanne worked at a daycare center in New Hope for many years.  She loved sharing her skills and teaching others of all ages.  Her hobbies included sewing, needlework, crafts, gardening, bingo, casinos and traveling.  She was a creative activities judge at several County Fairs, as well as at the Minnesota State Fair.  While she will be remembered for her generosity, creativity and concern for others, she considered her greatest achievement to be her role as mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Joanne Mau died May 26, 2009 surrounded by family at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital due to complications from pneumonia at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 14 days.

Joanne is survived by her husband, Joseph; daughters, Susan McCune of Isanti, Terrie Mau and husband Tom Plash of Fridley, Pam Mau and fiancé Rob Kuchera of Robbinsdale; sons, Joseph A. (Wanda) Mau of Isanti, Rick (Brenda) Mau of Hopkins; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; nephew, Robin of Salem, Oregon; niece, Debbie of Ketchikan, Alaska; and by many, many other relatives and friends.
