laurel-roos-obit-photo.jpgLaurel Louise Roos, age 82, of Clear Lake and a resident of Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge, passed away July 22, 2008 at Grandview.  A memorial service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 28th at Strike Funeral Home – Cambridge Chapel with Pastor Howard Skulstad officiating.  A time of visiting will be held 1 hour prior to the service.  Private interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.  Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the donor’s charity of choice.

Laurel Louise Roos was born January 7, 1926 at Ramona, South Dakota to William and Elda (Holler) Beyer.  In 1938 her family moved to Baudette where Laurel attended high school, graduating with the class of 1944.  She then attended beauty school and started working at The Paris Beauty Salon in Minneapolis.  On February 27, 1947 Laurel was united in marriage to Kenneth H. Roos in Minneapolis.  They made their home in South Minneapolis and Laurel worked in food service at Augsburg College for 26 years.  After Laurel and Kenneth retired in 1988 they moved to their home on Rush Lake in Clear Lake, Minnesota and they also wintered in Florida.  For the past two years Laurel has been cared for at Grandview Christian Home.

Laurel enjoyed cooking, canning, reading and dancing.  She loved entertaining her family, planning special meals for them especially during holidays.  Laurel will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her family and friends. 

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; son, Kenneth William (Lois) Roos of Minneapolis; two daughters, Kathleen Arneson of Rush City, and Carol (David) Jadinak of Mora; brother, Wally (Mona) Beyer of Baudette; two sisters, Norma Storland of Rosemount, and Marlys Lund of Eagan; 6 grandchildren, Charlene, Jennifer, Heidi, Brenda, Robbin and Lee; 12 great-grandchildren; by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene, and by a sister, Wilma Beyer.
