margit-hansel-obituary-photo-4.jpgMargit Hansel, age 53, of Isanti passed away January 17, 2008 at the University of Minnesota Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 21st at Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti with Rev. Valerie Brown-Greenly officiating.  Pallbearers will be Bob Buckingham, Brian Buckingham, Peter Buckingham, Gary Pearson, Aaron Sorenson and Gary Sorenson.  A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church and also from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 20th at Strike Funeral Home - Isanti Chapel.  Interment will be at Isanti Union Cemetery.

Margit Elise Hansel was born March 1, 1954 in Minneapolis to Harold and Lillie O’Hotto. Her family lived in Spring Lake Park until they moved to the Bethel/Coopers Corner community. Margit graduated from St. Francis High School, Class of 1972. On March 4, 1972 she married Lorenz Hansel and they have since made their home in rural Isanti. Margit was employed by the St. Francis School District for the last 20 years. She was very family orientated. She loved playing games with her grandchildren and planning the yearly family reunions. Margit was strong in her faith and she was a caregiver and teacher. She gave her children the freedom to be themselves and she respected their decisions and was always there for them. Margit also enjoyed traveling and planning their trips, fishing and reading.

She is survived by her husband, Lorenz Hansel of Isanti; 3 children, Tamara (Troy) Strecker of East Bethel, Melanie (Shaun) Murray of Hazelwood, Missouri, Joel (Michele) Hansel of Isanti; 7 grandchildren, Elise, Lily, Meagan, Evan, KeOntay, Damian and Madison; mother, Lillie O’Hotto of Isanti; brother, Tom (Bonnie) O’Hotto of Cambridge; and by many other relatives and friends.

Margit was preceded in death by her father.
