Genevevieve Middag, age 88, of Cambridge passed away October 14, 2007 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.  Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at Strike Funeral Home - Cambridge Chapel with Don McLellan officiating.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Pallbearers will be Daniel Leverentz, Kristofer Middag, Leigh Middag, Dr. John Nordwall, Stephen Nordwall and James Shaffer.  Entombment will be at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday at Forest Hill Cemetery in Duluth.

 

Genevieve Mae Middag was born May 14, 1919 at Duluth, Minnesota to Charles and Gertrude (Holt) MacMillan.  She was raised and attended school in Duluth.  On December 24, 1938 Genevieve was united in marriage to Gordon Middag in Cloquet.  They made their home and raised their family in Duluth.  In 1952 they moved to St. Louis Park where they remained until 1982 when they lived in Florida and at Lake Mille Lacs.  Ten years later they came to Cambridge and Genevieve was cared for at Grandview Christian Home for five years. 

Genevieve loved baking and often made cinnamon rolls and bread.  She also loved playing, and winning, card games, especially 500 and Hearts.  Genevieve like bowling and played in leagues for many years.  She also enjoyed doing crafts. 

Genevieve will be lovingly remembered by her two sons; Gerry (Ann) Middag of New Richmond, Wisconsin, Greg (Karen) Middag of Ketchikan, Alaska; three daughters, Gwen (John) Nordwall of Hopkins, Gayle (Dan) Leverentz of Plymouth, Glenda (Steven) Shaffer of Chicago; two brothers, Bruce MacMillan of South Range, Wisconsin, Ron (Diane) MacMillan of Duluth; by 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and by other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Gertrude, husband, Gordon, brother, Howard MacMillan, and sister, Marjorie Chaffey.
