Alice Violet McFarlane, age 90, of North Branch and formerly of Stanchfield, passed away April 16, 2007 at Green Acres Country Care Center.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 20, 2007 at Strike Funeral Home - Cambridge Chapel.  A visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service. 

Alice was born September 20, 1916 in Brunswick, Minnesota to Nils and Esther Tunstrom.  She graduated from the Minnesota School of Business in 1938 and worked as a secretary over the next ten years.  On November 19, 1942, Alice married Elwood McFarlane of Stanchfield while he was on leave from the service during WWII, and eventually settling in the Anoka area where they ran a business and raised their two sons.  In 1979 they retired and moved to Stanchfield where they made their home until Elwood’s death in 2003. 
Alice was a resident at the Green Acres Country Care Center in North Branch for the past 3 years.  She enjoyed designing and sewing her own clothes for much of her life.  She also loved listening to music, especially Polka bands.
Alice will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Roger (Carolyn) of Cincinnati, OH and Russ (Janna) of Plymouth, MN; her grandchildren Matthew (Katrina), John (Lisa) and Michael; great-grandchildren Elijah, Chloe and Joel; and by other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elwood, and sister, Jane.
